About this site

A directory that does the homework for you.

The AI Tool Encyclopedia is a free directory of AI tools — 150 of them — organized by the job you're trying to do, not by the technology behind them.

Sorted by the job

Other directories sort tools by technology and list thousands of them. This one asks a simpler question: what are you trying to finish? Faceless videos. A thumbnail. A website. Each category is one job, and the tools inside it are the ones that actually do that job.

Easy to compare

Every tool gets a short plain-English description, who it is best for, and its price, so you can look over a category and choose without needing instructions.

One place to start

Each category marks one tool START HERE — the single pick a beginner should try first, with a one-sentence plain-English reason. Start there. Browse the rest when you're ready.

What the full stack costs

Every category page lists its tools with the prices we have on record, so you can plan ahead and pick the ones that fit your budget.

Where the details come from. Prices and plans change fast, so every listing shows its date.

The tool details on this site come from our October 2026 source log. We are now rechecking each tool against its own official site — the link, the price, and what it does — and a listing’s date changes only when that recheck is done. Until then, each card says “Source log: October 2026.”

AI tools change fast. Prices move, free plans come and go, and some tools shut down. When we find a change, we update or replace the listing. Always confirm the current price on the tool’s own site before you pay.

Nothing here is paid placement. A tool is on a page because it does the job, in the order it belongs — not because someone paid to be first.

Who it's for

Beginners and students.

This site is a friendly place to find the right tool. If you're new to AI tools — or you're learning them in class — you shouldn't need a sales pitch to find the right one. You need a plain answer: what does it do, what does it cost, and where do I start? That's what every page here is built to give you.
